The title for this installation, ‘Patterns of Love and Beauty’ comes from one of the last conversations I had with my father. “It’s all patterns” he said. I was fearful that it was the morphine talking, replacing his usual acute awareness. Then he continued, “…and the patterns are Love and Beauty. Never forget that, Barbara”. This installation is dedicated to my father.

In the installation at Riverviews Arts Center (the installation also travelled to the Raleigh Artspace), actual windows of the gallery act as an invitation of what we will experience in the installation: a furnished sitting room is realized in unexpected and unforeseen ways. Seamless line drawings of fantastical plants cover the surface of the walls, floor, ceiling and all the objects in the room. Areas not readily visible, under chairs, tables and inside drawers, are given equal attention with drawing, ensuring the saturation of the experience.

Barbara was interviewed about this installation for The Studio Visit.
